The North-East's potential will be revealed to a national audience this afternoon, as developers and retailers are told why they should invest in the region.
Alan Milburn MP opens the Darlington Development Showcase at the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, in London.
Delegates will be told of the level of new investment in the Tees Valley, including more than £350m in Darlington.
Mr Milburn said: "I believe Darlington and the wider Tees Valley are ripe for investment after years of planning.
"Together, the public and private sector are transforming the economy of the North-East."
The event is hosted by Darlington Borough Council and Tees Valley Regeneration, and key investors in the town are lending their support by attending the event, starting at 3pm.
John Williams, Leader of Darlington Borough Council, said: "There is a strong message to deliver to a national audience of developers, agents and retailers who may not have considered Darlington and the wider Tees Valley as a business location."
