PARENTS are being warned to be vigilant after a third report of a bogus social worker trying to abduct a child.
The incident happened last Thursday at about 1.45pm when a woman called at an address in Dovedale Avenue, Grangetown, and said she was there to take the children away. The occupier refused her entry and closed the door on the woman, who just walked away.
The woman posing as a social worker was wearing a grey jacket and skirt. She was described as having shoulder-length hair with highlights and drove away in a small silver-coloured hatchback.
Parents who have suspicions about similar callers should contact social services or police immediately to confirm the person is a genuine social worker.
In an earlier incident the mother of a two-month-old girl said the bogus caller, a middle-aged woman, knew her baby's first name and date of birth. Later in the same day, a mother in Boosbeck reported a similar incident.
Anyone who may have witnessed any of the incidents or has information is asked to contact Det Sgt Paul Husband on (01642) 302626.
