Sedgefield residents can look ahead to a colourful spring after planting 2,000 bluebell bulbs.
The Sedgefield in Bloom Committee organised the planting by groups from the town, including Cubs and Brownies.
Gardeners from the borough and town councils joined volunteers taking part. The borough council helped pay for the bulbs. Before the planting could start, dog dirt had to be cleared from woodland on Durham Road.
The town's deputy major, Councillor Maxine Robinson, said: "It is hoped that the bluebells will naturalise and develop into a lovely spring display."
