A SUPERSTORE has been given permission to extend, but says it has no plans to do so in the near future.
Sainsbury's took over the store in Victoria Road, Darlington, from Safeway at the end of last year.
A Sainsbury's spokeswoman said: "We have got consent for an extension there, but we are not going to implement it in the near future. It's unlikely that anything will happen for the next financial year.
"When we first acquired the store, we closed it and refurbished it. We wouldn't want there to be any further disruption. It's positive that we have got that permission for the extension under our belts but we'll see how the store does.
