CARTOON dog Scooby Doo and TV show Friends are helping to give young people fresh incentive.
About 1,000 DVDs featuring the ghost-busting Great Dane and the US sitcom have been given to North Yorkshire Education Service. They were donated by BT's Northallerton distribution centre and will be used as incentives by youth workers based at Northallerton College.
BT distribution manager Richard Sinclair said the DVDs had been part of a broadband promotion.
Town councillor John Blevins, who works for BT, has been working with youngsters on the Base project which aims to establish a youth centre in Northallerton. He said: "When I heard we had a lot of DVDs, giving them to the youth workers seemed a good idea."
Community education youth worker Keith Best said: "We will use the DVDs to promote our work - using them as spot prizes and incentives for the young people we reach and work with."
