SOME new faces have joined the team behind one of the biggest events in the agricultural calendar.
The staff of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society has been strengthened following the recent announcement of a £10m development plan for the 250-acre site on the edge of Harrogate.
Recent additions include Nigel Morgan, in a new post of operations manager; Mark Stoddart, financial controller; Michelle Marshall, shows co-ordinator; and Susan Hibbert, who takes on a new role as human resources manager.
The society is best known as the organiser of the annual farming and countryside showcase, the Great Yorkshire Show. However, events take place at the showground year round, including the Yorkshire International Business Convention. A recent independent survey revealed that the venue contributes between £30m and £37m to the local economy.
Chief executive Nigel Pulling said: "The work of the society year round has increased substantially over the last few years.
"Our plans to improve the facilities and become the agricultural centre of the North mean we need a team of the highest calibre."
