A CAMPAIGN to encourage more people to set up their own businesses has been launched with a bang.
Business Link County Durham is putting on a series of events designed to give people the confidence to work for themselves.
Mick Wood, from its enterprise team, said: "In many cases, the main barrier stopping people taking their dreams forward is the many business myths that exist.
"These events aim to explode those myths and let people know there is help out there every step of the way."
The first, session, to take place at Durham County Cricket Club's Riverside ground in Chester-le-Street, County Durham, will see 100 delegates take part in drumming sessions with Brazilian percussionist Claudio kron do Brazil.
Visitors will write down their worst fears about setting up in business. Placed inside ballons, they will released so delegates can watch their fears fly away.
Business mentors will be on hand to offer practical advice.
It has been organised by performance coach Nickie Gott, of She's Gott It! Events.
"We want delegates to leave inspired, having exploded their own myths about setting up in business," she said.
The first event takes place on Wednesday, March 16, 5.30pm to 9pm. Admission is free. Others are scheduled for April and May across County Durham, including Barnard Castle, Murton, Stanley, Peterlee, Stanhope and Coxhoe.
