STAFF from a County Durham butchers traded their aprons for overalls for a high-speed challenge last weekend.
The North East Guild of Q Butchers - the body which represents professional butchers shops - held its own go-kart racing championships at Wakefield, in West Yorkshire.
Staff from H Coates and Sons - which has shops in Framwellgate Moor, Coxhoe and Trimdon - were among eight teams taking part.
Andrew Elder, in-house chef at the firm's Coxhoe branch, finished runner-up behind runaway leader Paul Hogan, of Meays Butchers, in Yeadon, West Yorkshire.
