TEAMS of council officers are available to visit community centres to hold workshops on using energy efficiently.
Derwentside District Council energy officer Paul Cooper and sustainability officer Natalie Tomlinson will talk about measures residents can install to improve energy efficiency in the home.
The local authority has secured funding to provide people on benefits who live in their own home or in private rented accommodation with free energy-saving light bulbs, which will be made available in the workshops. There will be information on grants, which are aimed at improving home energy efficiency, and advice on how to apply.
Councillor Ossie Johnson, executive member for the environment, said: "This is a project which demonstrates how Derwentside District Council is trying to work within the community and get the message of Sustainable Development to the residents of the district."
To arrange a workshop, call Ms Tomlinson on (01207) 218303.
