ARTISTIC students hit the high notes at a festival earlier this month.
A 45-strong team of students from Belmont School Community Arts College represented their school at the Darlington Performing Arts Festival held on March 5 and 12 and won several prizes.
The senior choir gained first place in the music competition, performing the 1960s classic California Dreamin'.
Year nine student Rowan Burton and year seven student Daniel Mellis both gained trophies for their brass solos.
In the drama competition, the school's year ten group regained its title in the choric speaking contest, while 13-year-old Jessica Parkinson and 14-year-old Catherine Smith came first in the 16 years and under duologue competition. Year ten student David Gould retained the trophy for solo improvisation.
