AN artistic schoolboy has won a national competition designed to help cheer up children in hospital.
Joss Humberstone won the senior art category in the Peter Pan Awards for Creativity, organised by the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity.
The 14-year-old, from Shincliffe Village, near Durham City, won the award for his picture, called Landscape With Sheep. He received his award from Mark Grant, an illustrator on the "Funday Times".
Other celebrities at the presentation evening at London's Hilton Hotel last week included Cat Deeley, Liberty X and Cherie Blair.
Children were invited to submit stories, art or photos on a theme of cheering up a child in hospital.
