EIGHT girls from the same North Yorkshire school were celebrating yesterday after being accepted into the National Academy for Gifted and Talented Youth.
They are all pupils at Queen Mary's, an independent school for girls based at Baldersby, near Thirsk.
The academy was set up by the Government two years ago to be a centre of excellence for students aged 11 to 19, whose academic ability is within the top five per cent of the school population.
The youngsters were assessed by the academy on formal tests and coursework.
The eight are: Vicky Hall, of Great Thirkleby, Thirsk; Charlotte Mander, of Grewelthorpe, Ripon; Louise Deedes, of Thirsk; Jessica Bargh, of Kirkbymoorside; Lucy Baker, of Masham; Anna Coles, of Pickhill and sisters Samantha and Natasha Hall, of Ripon.
