THE Feversham Cricket League's future was in considerable doubt two years ago, having been reduced to just four competing teams.
But things have improved since then, with Slingsby rejoining in 2004 to compete with Gillamoor, Harome, High Farndale and Spout House. And there was more good news at the league's annual meeting when Wombleton's application to rejoin after an absence of five years was successful.
It was decided by a majority vote that each team will play home and away matches against their five opponents, giving a total of ten matches per team to be completed by July 31.
To take part in the top play-off competition, to be staged at Harome, an individual must play in a minimum of four league matches.
Despite a £30 loss on the 2004 season, there are still sufficient funds to enable the subscriptions to remain the same for 2005, namely £10 for the league and £5 for the Lady Feversham Cup.
The officials were re-elected en-bloc: president Sir Richard Beckett; chairman David Westhead; vice-chairman William Ainslie; secretary/treasurer Steven Medd.

The final to be played at Harome by July 31.
