A THEATRE group is celebrating a cash windfall that will help them perform an original wartime play this summer.
The Spennymoor Settlement's Everyman Theatre group wants to stage Put That Light Out this summer.
The theatre group received a welcome boost when Durham County councillor for Tudhoe, Neil Foster, presented a cheque for £850, from the membership initiative fund, to the group.
The cash will help with production and equipment costs.
The comedy and musical show, written by producer Malcolm Stamp, is set in an air raid refuge and is in the style of a radio broadcast with a live audience.
Councillor Foster hopes the donation will enable more people, including school and community groups, to get a taste of wartime experiences during the 60th anniversary year of the end of the Second World War.
