INTERPRETERS in Darlington have been given a £6,000 grant to continue their language classes.
The ten-week interpreting course, run by Darlington and Durham County Racial Equality Council, has been financed by Abbey Trust.
Darlington MP Alan Milburn presented the cheque to the group at the Dolphin Centre on Friday.
Sharon Squire, Abbey community relations manager, said: "We are pleased we can help make local improvements. Abbey is committed to getting involved in the communities in which it operates and we want to make strong and lasting links with people."
The classes are free and are open to anyone who speaks a language other than English.
Current students speak Cantonese, Russian and Bengali.
