WORK will start today on rebuilding a 36 metre section of wall at a Loftus cemetery.
It will take six weeks to complete and cost in the region of £50,000.
The 40-year-old wall, in Loy Lane, Loftus, will be re-built using existing stones and strengthened.
Councillor Bob Stanway, of Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, said: "The council is working hard to improve both the appearance and safety of cemeteries right across the borough in line with our clean, green and safe agenda.
"We would like to apologise in advance for any disruption caused as a result of the works and to reassure visitors to the cemetery that this will be kept to a minimum."
