A TROOP of Barnard Castle scouts have been given a taste of culture.
Twenty-five members of 1st Barnard Castle Scout Group spent a weekend at the Acomb youth hostel in Hexham, Northumberland.
The trip combined fun with cultural experiences.
The scouts visited Newcastle, where they went to the Discovery Museum, the Centre for Life and the cathedral.
They also went bowling and to Waterworld, and visited Vindolanda and the Roman Army museum.
At the hostel, they watched DVDs and relaxed with indoor games.
Scout leader Colin Clarke said: "All the youngsters agreed they had enjoyed the trip but were rather tired by Sunday teatime."
