AFTER more than two decades of feeding hungry children, dinner lady Rhoda Dawson has finally hung up her apron.
For the past 22 years, she has been serving up the lunchtime grub for youngsters at Broomfield School in Northallerton.
And as she carried out her duties for the last time last Thursday, youngsters, staff, governors and colleagues showed their appreciation by showering her with farewell gifts.
Headteacher Heather Thom said: "Rhoda is a much loved and valued member of the team and everyone will miss her.
"Catering staff and school lunches are an integral part of school life and Rhoda will be a tremendous loss.
"Working in a school kitchen is hard work, but rewarding, and I hope Rhoda knows just how much we appreciate her efforts over the last 22 years."
Mrs Dawson and her husband, Colin, have two children and are now looking forward to their first grandchild, due next month.
