AN MP joined fire crews last week to spread the message of fire safety to residents on Teesside.
Shoppers at Asda in Thornaby town centre were greeted by Stockton South MP Dari Taylor.
The MP was helping firefighters from Cleveland Fire Brigade to encourage locals to have fire alarms fitted at home.
Any shoppers who donated an Easter egg to the firefighters was rewarded with a free smoke alarm.
The eggs will be distributed to vulnerable families throughout the area.
Ms Taylor said: "It is vitally important that people take the message of fire safety seriously as, in many situations, an alarm can mean the difference between life and death."
