Thieves stole a safe and wheeled it away in a supermarket trolley.
They struck at the offices of housing organisation Erimus in Crossfell Road, Middlesbrough, at 6am yesterday.
Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the thieves pushing the trolley, which included the safe with £200 inside, mobile phones and digital cameras.
The burglars are believed to have gone past Morrisons and a filling station on Berwick Hills council estate. They left a mountain bike at the scene.
Susie Thompson, director of housing for Erimus Housing, said: "We do not keep a large amount of money at these premises. Thankfully, nobody was hurt and minimal damage was done. We will be working closely with the police to try and find those responsible."
