PRIMARY school pupils battled it out in the largest tag rugby competition Darlington has seen.
More than 200 children from 17 schools met at Darlington Rugby Football Club, in Blackwell Meadows, to take part.
The 20 teams competed in groups and then winners of the groups fought through to the final stages.
The contest was won by Abbey Junior School, with Heighington CE Primary School the runners-up.
Both schools will represent Darlington in the Tees Valley tag rugby competition in Middlesbrough, on April 16.
The Darlington event was organised by Alison Raw through the School Sport Partnership Programme.
She said: "It was a fantastic day and the feedback from teachers has been really good."
The event also used the services of 16 to 18-year-old students from Darlington, who are working towards sports leadership awards.
