A HOSPITAL has received a bumper thank you present for the care given to a patient with leukaemia before he died.
The family and friends of Kevin Mansfield have presented Dr Dianne Plews, consultant haematologist at Middlesbrough's James Cook University, with a cheque for £1,450.
It followed a charity evening at the Ayresome Quoit and Air Rifle Club and the money was raised from entertainment on the evening, tombola, raffles and bingo.
Mr Mansfield's daughter, Elaine Williams, and club treasurer Barry Richardson presented Dr Plews with the cheque, which will help patients in the haematology day unit and on Ward 14 at James Cook.
Dr Plews said: "We're extremely grateful for this donation.
"It is very generous of people to think of others at a time like this and I'm sure it is comforting for Kevin's family and friends to know they are helping other patients affected by leukaemia."
