IN the past six months the Darlington Lions Club has donated more than £6,000 to local good causes.
This includes donations to ChildLine, the Citizens' Advice Bureau, Talking Newspapers, Yorkshire Cancer Research, Mind and Guide Dogs for the Blind, and Christmas hampers for elderly and needy people.
The Darlington Lions also donated £1,000 to the Asian tsunami appeal and joined Lions clubs across the world in giving more than $5m to help with disaster relief and reconstruction.
It is Lions awareness week and the Darlington branch would like to hear from people interested in joining them.
For details call president Stephen Harwood on (01325) 718711 or visit the second hand bookshop in the Blackwellgate Arcade on Monday, Tuesday, Friday or Saturday from 10am to 4pm.
