VOTERS in east Durham have been urged to make their voices heard in the coming local elections.
Residents of Easington district will decide who will be representing them on Durham County Council for the next four years when they go to the polls on Thursday, May 5.
A council spokesman said: "It is very important that everyone uses their vote, because it gives them a voice to influence how their county council is run.
"Your vote gives you a say over what facilities and services will benefit your local community -both now and in the future."
Voters can cast their ballots at a polling station, by post or by nominating a person to vote on their behalf on polling day.
Anyone wishing to vote by post should complete an application form, which is available from the council to be returned no later than Tuesday, April 26.
