STUDENTS at Darlington College of Technology have been given a taste of life in the armed forces.
Army and RAF sergeants spent the day with students at the Larchfield Street campus as part of the college's uniformed services programme, designed to introduce young people to the potential of careers in all uniformed services.
Sergeant Mark Williams, of 40 Regiment Royal Artillery, based at Topcliffe, North Yorkshire, was joined by RAF recruitment sergeant Craig Jones, who is based in Middlesbrough, for the day.
"We gave the students an insight into what it is like in the armed forces and some of the things we have experienced working all over the world," said Sgt Williams. "We then set them some team building tasks to identify leadership skills and how best to work together.
"I hope the students enjoyed it and I would like to think they will now consider joining the forces."
Tutor Helen Cook said: "It is very beneficial for students on this course to gain information directly from professionals and their individual experiences."
