HUNDREDS flocked to a North-East hilltop to raise a cross and join an outdoor Easter service yesterday.
The event, at Tunstall Hill, Sunderland, was started 40 years ago by St Cecilia's RC Church, in Ryhope Road.
Originally for members of the church, it was later opened to all denominations.
Father Denis O'Mahony, of St Cecilia's, said: "The service was well attended with families and people of all age groups taking part. It was led by St Mary's RC Church, of Bridge Street, Sunderland."
