PEOPLE from across the North-East and North Yorkshire went to a colourful orchid show this Easter weekend.
The Darlington and District Orchid Society's annual show also attracted experts from around the country.
There were around 120 colourful and delicate specimines of the rare flower on display on Saturday and Sunday at the Darlington Rugby Football Club.
The society has about 100 members from Darlington, but also Northallerton, Leyburn, the dales and as far afield as Teesside and Newcastle.
Chairman of the society, Tom Watson, said he was a little disappointed with the turn out.
"When we booked this at the rugby club we didn't realise it was Easter," he said, "nevertheless it has been a big success."
There were two prizes up for grabs - one for the public's favourite flower, and the other which was judged by the orchid dealers from across the country.
Jean Barker, from Stockton, was the proud winner of both categories. Her dendrobium farmisi, won the popular vote, and her phalaenopis Sarah Lee, won the expert's vote.
She won a cut glass vase and gets to look after the society's silver tray until next year.
