POLICE are hunting two men who assaulted a woman in broad daylight in a busy town.
The woman, who is in her 40s, was attacked last Friday at about 1pm in the Westgate area of Guisborough, near Fountain Street.
The woman was treated for shock and minor bruising at James Cook Hospital, in Middlesbrough, after her handbag was snatched.
The two males, who were both wearing jeans and trainers, emptied the contents of the woman's bag onto the pavement before stealing cash, bank cards and medication.
Detective Constable Gail Sutherland, of Redcar Police, said: "This was a particularly nasty incident and has left the woman in shock.
"It occurred during the afternoon of a busy Bank Holiday, and I feel sure someone must have seen these two men."
The attackers also stole some Clomethiazole tablets, which could be dangerous if taken in significant quantities.
Police warned anyone who finds the tablets, which are greyish-brown capsules, not to take them.
Anyone with information is asked to call police on (01642) 302626.
