A TOURIST attraction offered visitors the chance to step back in time over the weekend.
The wonders of Victorian engineering were on display when the Tees Cottage Pumping Station opened its doors to the public on Easter Sunday and Monday.
The station, on the outskirts of Darlington, began supplying water to the town in 1849 and provides an insight into the time when the water supply relied on wells and rainwater tubs.
The site, in Coniscliffe Road, includes a 25-ton, 1904 beam engine, the 1926 pump house, and a miniature steam railway.
The next time the station is open will be on the weekend of May 7 and 8
