HERITAGE campaigners are to investigate plans to demolish a pub and hotel on the edge of Darlington.
The White Horse Hotel, in North Road, could be pulled down as part of proposals put forward by housing developers.
Darlington Borough Council has received a planning application from Premier Homes UK for the building to be demolished and new homes built on the site.
The developer wants to create 24 one-bedroom and 40 two-bedroom flats on the land, in the Harrowgate Hill area.
Darlington Civic Trust chairman Clive Owen said: "We haven't yet seen the plans, but we'll be having a look and if we feel we need to make any comments we'll do so the council in the usual manner."
A public meeting takes place at Whessoe parish hall, off North Road, today at 7.30pm.
