A TALENTED schoolboy has returned from a competition in Portugal with a host of medals.
Twelve-year-oldTom Smith picked up two individual gold medals, and a team bronze and silver in a taekwondo competition.
Tom travelled to Peniche, in Portugal, with the Kim Chung Do Kwan school and his dad Mark Smith.
The Hurworth School pupil has only been learning taekwondo for three-and-a-half years but already has his black belt.
He won two gold medals in the under 13 fighting and self defence competitions in the contest, which included teams from England, Portugal and Spain. Tom's brothers Danny, ten, and Sam, eight, have taken up martial arts.
Tom, who lives in Southfield Close, Hurworth said he had really enjoyed the contest and was looking forward to more competitions in the future.
