Councillors at Middlesbrough are expected to set up a training bursary using unspent grants earmarked to help the voluntary sector and community groups
Middlesbrough Voluntary Development Agency (MVDA) sees training as an effective way of supporting groups and has identified a gap in what is being provided.
A report to go before councillors says a bursary scheme would enable newer, smaller and underfunded groups to develop and grow.
The agency has developed a training programme in venues across Middlesbrough during spring and summer. It will cover recruitment and management of volunteers to strategic planning, marketing, promotion, financial management and fundraising.
