South African paceman Deon Kruis has joined up with Yorkshire and is included in a squad of 13 for the pre-season practice matches against Warwickshire at Edgbaston and Sussex at Hove, writes David Warner.
And Yorkshire will have another fast bowling newcomer in their ranks in left-armer David Lucas from Nottinghamshire.
Yorkshire will now 50-over matches against Warwickshire tomorrow and on Saturday before travelling on to Hove where they will play Sussex in a two-day game on Monday and Tuesday and in a 50-overs contest on Wednesday.
There will then be just a week to go before they open up their Championship programme with a tough match against Essex at Chelmsford.
The only doubt for tomorrow concerns captain Craig White who is still recovering from flu.
"Craig has not been fit enough to practice this week but he is determined to play and insisted on taking his place in the squad," said director of cricket, David Byas.
"These practice matches will be taken very seriously and they form am important part of our preparations because it will be the first opportunity we have had to play on grass."
Australians Phil Jaques and Ian Harvey do not team up with Yorkshire until next week and England strike bowler Matthew Hoggard and off-spinner Matthew Dawson are not playing in the friendly games.
"Matthew has netted over the past couple of days but we already know what he can do and because the size of the squad is limited I want to see Kruis and Lucas bowling on grass for the first time," said Byas."Chris Silverwood also needs some action following his ankle operation at the end of last season.''
There is no room in the squad for batsmen Richard Pyrah, from Woodlands, and Andrew Gale, from Cleckheaton, who both impressed when called up in the second part of last season.
Yorkshire (from): White, Wood, Sayers, Taylor, McGrath, Lumb, Dawood, Bresnan, Lawson, Lucas, Blain, Kruis, Silverwood.
