TOWN residents will be invited to join a guided walk around a nature reserve to find out about projects on the site.
The countryside team from Sedgefield Borough Council will lead ramblers around Byerley Park Local Nature Reserve, in Newton Aycliffe, in April.
Local reserves officer Tammy Casey hopes the walk will enable the council's countryside team to discuss management plans with the public.
She hopes people will learn about projects which aim to enhance the reserve for community use and wildlife protection.
She said: "A lot of people don't know what is happening at the site, which was designated as a nature reserve in 2003, and have misconceptions. It is not a big wildlife zoo but is important for wildlife and local people.
"We have a friends group that supports the site, but the more people who visit the more input local people can have and hopefully there will be less anti-social behaviour."
To join the walk, meet at the Horndale Club, Meadowfield Way, in Newton Aycliffe, at 9am on Saturday, April 16.
