THE McGovern family need to take a break from Kit Kats after they bought 54,000 bars in only two months.
Retired soldier Pat McGovern, his wife and two sons have munched their way through 20,000 bars.
They are are now so sick of the snack they are handing them to strangers.
Mr McGovern, 53, bought 6,000 99p packs to take advantage of a £10m online auction being offered by manufacturer Rowntree.
In a buy-one-get-one-free offer, he spent just under £3,000 on Kit Kats and won £12,000 of holidays and goods.
But after weeks of eating nothing but chocolate, Mr McGovern, his wife, Carol, 49, son Andrew, 22, and son Scot, 16, have put on more than a stone in weight between them.
Boxes packed with Kit Kats are now stacked in their home in Redcar, east Cleveland, and all Redcar's primary schools and youth clubs have been treated to free snacks, as have neighbours and friends.
Mr McGovern said: "We are sick of Kit Kats. We have had Kit Kats for breakfast dinner and tea for two months.
"Our friends are sick of Kit Kats, our neighbours are sick of Kit Kats. I don't want to see another Kit Kat for a long time."
