The Richmond Motor Club had their usual support on Friday with an entry of 133 competitors for their Sid Morton Memorial Trial held at Fremington Edge, above Reeth, writes Wally Richmond.
The two laps of the 15 sections course featured plenty of wet rocks and mud to make the going tricky.
The sixth section was typical, a series of rock steps up the steep hillside which was very muddy and slippy. No rider managed to go clear but Roger Williams (Scorpa) and Guy Kendrew (Gas Gas) were best with a quick dab each.
In the clubmen's class, Mark Lundberg (Beta) got his first class win leading Julian Rowntree (Beta) and Paul Lundberg (Sherco) home.
The outright win went to John Sunter (Montesa) who finished on 26, three marks clear of John Crinson (Sherco) and Roger Williams (Scorpa).
It was close in the A-class Youth which went to Jonathan Richardson (Beta) from Chris Lambert (Beta) on MC with 62 marks, and Johnny White, in third place, a further seven marks down.
