A WORKER has been arrested on suspicion of stealing thousands of pounds worth of caravan equipment from his employers to sell on Internet site ebay.
Police were called to a north Durham company after items, including roof lights, windows, blinds, mixer taps and pumps, went missing.
The value of the goods is not yet known, but it is believed to run into thousands of pounds.
A man, 29, and a woman, 23, believed to be his partner, were arrested by Durham Police on March 21 on suspicion of theft of property and its resale on the auction site.
Officers carried out a search of their home in Consett and recovered about £2,000 worth of caravan-related equipment. The couple were questioned and released on police bail pending further inquiries.
A Durham Police spokesman said: "Officers are also looking into various ebay transactions going back over the past six months in which people have purchased items of caravan equipment online."
Anyone with information about the investigation is asked to contact PC Steve Ellis, at Consett police station, on 0845-6060 365.
