PLANS to extend a community office to meet the needs of a growing number of users have been announced.
Managers of Hudson House, in Reeth, Swaledale, want to convert a garage outside the former Barclays Bank building into extra office space. The extension would also have a kitchen and toilet.
Graham Wilkinson, Hudson House manager, said: "The building has been such a success since we opened in January 2002. We now need more space to spill out into."
The office is used by organisations including the police, national park authority and district council. The building also has facilities for education and business training.
Mr Wilkinson believes the conversion and refurbishment of the garage will cost around £90,000. Funding is being sought from regional development agency Yorkshire Forward and North Yorkshire County Council.
The planning application has been submitted to the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority and will be discussed at a meeting in Ingleton next Tuesday.
Planning officer Rachel Whaley said in a report: "It is not considered that the proposal would have any significant adverse impact on the residential amenity of neighbouring properties."
