A BICYCLE belonging to a murder victim has been recovered by detectives investigating the case.
The orange and silver Harlem USA Thunder mountain bike was discovered after an appeal by Cleveland Police for information into the death of Keith Philpott.
Mr Philpott, who had learning difficulties, was found bound, beaten and stabbed at his home in Billingham two weeks ago.
Police said officers had received a number of calls after they revealed they were looking for Mr Philpott's bike and a missing Nokia 6600 mobile phone.
Forensic tests are now being carried out on the bike, but the search for the phone is continuing.
Mr Philpott, 36, was discovered by police at his ground floor flat at Axbridge Court, Billingham, after his family raised concerns for his whereabouts.
Two men have been charged with his murder. Sean Swindon, 24, of no fixed abode, and Michael Peart, 21, of Eamont Road, Norton, were remanded in custody and are appearing before Teesside Crown Court today.
