A PUB which lies on the historic route of the Stockton and Darlington Railway is to recreate a little bit of history.
The Fighting Cocks Hotel in Middleton St George has been given permission to put a railway carriage next to it.
Work is unlikely to start until January - after the busy summer period - but there have already been requests to hold wedding receptions there.
Tenant Ian Kemble said: "Putting the work back a few months means we can do our homework and make sure we are accurately recreating the village's railway history.
"I was told by local historians that when the railway was opened in 1825 there was a platform at The Fighting Cocks and people bought their tickets from the pub."
The carriage -probably a Mark One British Carriage - will be linked to the pub by a conservatory with a mock platform made from decking.
