A COMMUNITY is being invited to unite against anti-social behaviour by youngsters in a town centre car park.
Earlier this week, the issue was raised at a district-wide police community forum.
Boroughbridge Town Council has now suggested setting up a community group to tackle the issue.
Protests about the conduct of youngsters, including speeding drivers, noisy music and inappropriate behaviour have been made by residents living near what is known as the Back Lane car park.
Town council chairwoman Freda Cooper said youths driving round the car park had caused particular problems, but there were others of an anti-social nature.
Coun Cooper said the latest initiative to combat the problem would start with a public meeting attended by police and local schools, to create a group to tackle the problems.
Coun Cooper, who is also Mayor of Boroughbridge, said it was the nature of young people to meet in groups, although she said they sometimes changed their venue, sparking complaints elsewhere.
Residents living near the car park have called for action because of the ongoing problems they face and the impact on their lives.
