A TALENTED rugby player from Richmond School is living his dream after being selected for the England under-16 squad.
Calum Clark, 15, has already represented his country in two successful international matches against Italy and Wales, which the team won 45-5 and 15-7 respectively. The squad are also hoping for another win tomorrow when they again play Wales.
Calum started playing rugby at the age of six and was a member of Stockton Rugby Club. A year later he joined Darlington Rugby Club and has been a member since.
This year he was picked for the Yorkshire under-16 team and played against Durham and Northumberland in the county festival.
He then played with the North of England team which beat the South and South West.
Calum eventually received the England call up and played for the A squad before being picked for the first team.
The blindside flanker said: "Playing for England is amazing. Everyone is at a really good standard and it's been some of the best times.
"I have to train quite a lot and I practice the most during the holidays. I would like to play professional rugby in the future, but I'm going to take my A levels at Barnard Castle School first."
Calum also captains Richmond School's year 11 rugby team which won the Cleveland Cup, the Area Sevens Competition and the Merit League last year.
The team are coached by teachers Richard Meacher and Martin Burgess, who are both delighted with the squad which will play in the Yorkshire State Schools cup final on April 16.
Mr Burgess said: "The team has been so successful due to Calum's leadership really. He is very well respected by his peers and leads the group well.
