A THEATRE company has teamed up with rugby clubs to stage one of its plays.
Lobster Productions is a three-man writing and touring theatre company based in Jarrow, Newcastle, and is embarking on a tour.
The production, Dangle in the Dust, is set in the changing room of a rugby club.
The group has decided to stage the play in rugby clubs instead of theatres.
It hopes the move will attract new audiences as well as regular theatre-goers.
The tour starts at Newcastle Falcons' Rugby Club on April 27 and will finish at Barnard Castle club, in County Durham, on May 13.
Other clubs to be visited are Blaydon, Seaton Carew, Bishop Auckland, Winlaton, Ponteland, Westoe, Consett and Horden.
Ian Worsley, of Barnard Castle Rugby Club, said: "By staging the play in rugby clubs, the theatre company hopes people who do not normally go to the theatre will come along and watch.
"We will be staging the play in our bar area.
"We have held similar events before, and hope this will be just as successful."
Director and actor Darren Palmer said: "This is a black comedy set in the changing and physio rooms of a premiership rugby union club.
"The story concerns a newly signed young player, his meteoric rise to stardom and the influence of the club physio, who may or may not be the devil sent to tempt him."
The play contains strong language, simulated violence and some male nudity.
