STAFF at a North-East dog charity are hoping the popularity of the BBC's Doctor Who will help them find a home for one of their rescue dogs - named K9.
The dog is a 13-year-old tan coloured Staffordshire Bull Terrier, who was rehomed by the Dogs Trust Darlington recently, but returned when the working habits of her new owners changed.
Her real name is Kerry Canine - but she has been nicknamed K9.
Although an older dog, she is still very active and loves to run around.
Dogs Trust Darlington rehoming centre manager Sue Embleton said: "K9 is a lovely lady. She loves people, but isn't so keen on other animals, so would need to find a home with no other pets so she can be the centre of attention.
"In an ideal world - or should I say universe - K9 will find a home with older children and with owners who have experience of Staffordshire Bull Terriers."
Doctor Who's robot companion K9 won't be appearing in the BBC's new series. However, the Dogs Trust were given an original robot K9 several years ago. The robot dog is now happily living out his retirement at the charity's rehoming centre in Devon. To offer K9 a home, call (01325) 333114.
