A TEENAGE heroin addict who admitted burgling a man's bungalow on the day his victim celebrated his 52nd birthday has been jailed.
In October last year, Kenneth Gilbey's home in The Lawns, Seaham, east Durham, was burgled for the fifth time in weeks.
Durham Crown Court heard that Mr Gilbey woke to hear noises from his living room. He found 19-year-old Kevin Willis helping himself to money, cigarettes and a lighter.
Willis fled, but was later arrested. Yesterday, he admitted burglary and handling a mobile phone stolen in a separate burglary in Rotherfield Avenue, Seaham.
Willis, of James Street, Easington Colliery, was sentenced to 15 months in a young offenders' institution.
