A DARLINGTON hair stylist has set himself a challenging feat for his feet.
Tom Moore, who works for hair and beauty chain Saks, is preparing to take part in a mammoth trek for charity.
The 24-year-old is in training to climb 4200m in the Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu, Peru, to raise money for the Anthony Nolan Trust.
Mr Moore aims to raise at least £3,175 for the charity.
The chain nominated the Anthony Nolan Trust as its charity after it was alerted to the plight of Michelle Wood, a stylist at Saks Yarm, who is fighting acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
The trust organises "once-in-a-lifetime" expeditions to raise money for the charity.
Mr Moore said: "I wanted to do something to raise money for the trust and when I saw the advertisement in our staff newsletter, the Inca Trek really caught my imagination."
So far, he has raised £700 from donations. He must raise a further £2,500 by August.
Mr Moore will be flying out in October to begin the five- day trek through valleys, high mountain passes, ancient ruins, grassland, cloud forest and snow capped mountains.
He said: "It has always been an ambition of mine to see Machu Picchu and when I saw I could do it for such a worthwhile cause I jumped at the chance."
