A BAKERY has come up with some of the dough needed to send a squad of disabled youngsters to the Special Olympic Games in Glasgow.
A donation of £2,760 from Bakers Oven North's charity committee will pay the cost of accommodation, tracksuits, travel, leotards, shorts, polo shirts, T-shirts, gym shoes and whites for some of the 14 young competitors and five coaches, who will be travelling to the competitions in July.
Tees Valley Community Foundation has given a further £6,750 to the squad from Gymworld, which is based in Middlesbrough College, Middlesbrough.
"Sport is very important to any young person, but even more so if they have disabilities," said Emma Walton, personnel manager at Bakers Oven North and a member of its charity committee.
But in order to compete in the games, the club needs to raise more money. Head coach June Burnett and parent and coach Sandra Jennison say the club is still looking for help with funding the trip.
Mrs Jennison can be contacted on (01642) 296316.
