PUPILS from a school where art is a key part of the curriculum were presented with prizes they had won in a painting competition yesterday.
Children from years one and two at Cockton Hill Infants School, Bishop Auckland, filled the windows of Chribec News with Easter card designs.
Owner Gillian Jones presented prizes to the winners, Louise McKimm, seven, Katie Wade, six, and five-year-old Chloe Stamp.
They took a box of small eggs back to school for all the competition entrants.
Headteacher John Redman said: "Our children are very creative. Art work is very important in our school and we try to develop a creative curriculum.
"We bring in a wide range of expertise through visiting artists and take our children out to give them different experiences.
"Before Easter they sent work to Poland, Russia and Germany, where we have link schools.
"We give them ideas and the stimulus to develop their own artwork. They do some wonderful work."
