A WOMAN who brought music to thousands of children and adults has died aged 82.
Everyone who met June Marion Prested, a former head of music at Darlington's Dodmire School, said she had a zest for life.
She began work in banking before she trained as a music teacher in Darlington.
After marrying for the third time to organ-builder Bill Prested, she settled in Lawson Terrace, Durham.
From there, she became known for a number of activities, including helping with Brownies and Guides and playing the organ in churches, including St Giles, in Durham, where her funeral will be held at 2pm tomorrow.
She leaves four children, Francis, Brigid, Peta and Richard, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Recently living in the Darlington area, she was closely associated with St Herbert's Church, and was a member of the University of the Third Age.
She also became known in Durham through her playing of the organ for funerals at South Road Crematorium.
Her daughter, Peta Cockburn, said: "She literally brought music to thousands of children and adults, but it will be her incredible zest for life which will be long remembered by us all. She will be a great miss to us all."
