PEOPLE in the region have been putting their memories of war on record.

They have been recording their experiences, to be added to the BBC archive People's War.

Emma Shields, Stockton Libraries' community engagement officer, said: "We heard some remarkable tales from the people who lived through the Second World War.

"Their memories were sharp and clear about those momentous events in their lives. I'm sure their stories will be a valuable addition to the BBC archive and I hope we'll be able to add more over the next three weeks with the events to come."

People have a further opportunity to say what life was like on the Home Front, in Stockton Central Library, on Wednesday, April 13.

Then on Thursday, April 28, the library wants to learn more about the part local women played in the war and what it meant to them.

Meanwhile, staff at Thornaby Library want to hear people's memories of the long-gone Thornaby airfield, on Friday, April 22.

All events run from 10am to 3.30pm. People's stories can be recorded on disc, or entered into the online archive, via the Internet or write or by typing them out for library staff to input.
